I'm a 3d artist that's always wanted to learn 2D, so I spent 6 months learning it in my spare time :) Wrote about what I learned here: http://www.blenderguru.com/articles/9-artistic-lessons/
In (mostly) chronological order...
This is where I started (pretty derpy)
Heard it was best to start with traditional, so I spent the first 2 months with charcoal alone
Back to digital! This was about 20-30 hours.
This one felt like forever to finish! About 30 hours.
Some early sketches trying to draw a face (pretty unsuccessfully!)
A little better in the second month
Month 3 started to get better
Around month 4
Started drawing hector but I wasn't feeling it so I abandoned this one too. *ding!*
My first finished cartoonish attempt. Came out pretty weird!
December 15' rolled around, and Star Wars fever hit me ;)
Another go at cartoonish proportions. A little better.
Tried to push the expressions in this one.
One of my earlier paintings, but it was mostly traced so it barely counts
This one was challenging! A mix of cartoonish proportions, while still being semi-realistic in shading. Inspired by Johannes Helgeson!
Sexy sketch time! In month 5/6 I started to understand line weight and it helped a lot!
Always wanted to do a sexy anime/cartoon style girl, so drew this as my final :)
Thanks for looking! Follow for more 3d and 2d tests like this.
